How to create an insurance research scenario, get quotes and finalise recommendations

Advice Designer's Insurance research lets you complete a client's insurance research directly on the client record — from confirming personal details and existing cover, through live quotes from every insurer on your approved product list, to recommendations and comparison reports.

Once complete, the scenario can be included in a plan and flows through to the Advice Document and Plan Presentation.

💡Note: Each client can hold multiple insurance research scenarios, so you can model different cover options side by side.

How to create an insurance research scenario:

Within the client, click on the Research tab, then the Insurance tab:

  1. Click Add Scenario

  2. Enter a Scenario Name

  3. Select who the scenario is For (e.g. Client, Partner or Client & Partner)

  4. Click Save

Saving the scenario opens the quote workspace, which has three tabs: Details, Quotes and Recommendations.

How to confirm personal details:

Within the Details tab > Personal Details:

  1. Confirm each life insured's Occupation, Employment status, Date of birth, Gender, Smoker status, Health discount, State and Annual income (ex super)

  2. Click Edit next to Loadings to add any loadings, if applicable

⚠️Important: State is a required field. Quotes cannot be retrieved until it is set for each life insured.

💡Note: These details drive the premiums returned by insurers, so check them before requesting quotes.

How to review existing cover:

Within the Details tab > Current Situation, existing policies imported from the Fact Find are listed.

  1. Click the chevron "›" to the left of a policy to expand its cover details

  2. Use the Action drop-down in line with each policy to select either:

    • Review – links the policy to a product so it can be compared against your recommendations

    • Not Considered – excludes the policy from the comparison

🥇TIP: Click Refresh from Fact Find to pull in the latest existing cover, or Add Existing Cover to add a policy manually.

How to add a quote:

Within the Details tab > Cover Selection:

  1. Click to add a quote. The Needs Editor will open

  2. Enter a Quote Name and select the Life Insured

  3. Confirm the Super Frequency and Non-Super Frequency

  4. Click Add Need and select the cover type: Life, TPD Standalone, Trauma Standalone, Income Protection, Business Expenses, Needlestick or Child Trauma

  5. Enter the Sum Insured and confirm the Structure, Owner, Rollover and Premium Waiver

  6. To attach extensions to a Life need, click + TPD Extension to Life or + Trauma Extension to Life

  7. Click Save Quote

The quote will now appear under Cover Selection. Repeat for each quote required.

How to get quotes and select a recommendation:

  1. Click Get Quotes

  2. Premiums are requested from every insurer on the approved product list and displayed in the Quotes tab

  3. Select the Life Insured and quote on the left-hand Quote Details panel to view its results

  4. Click Rec in line with your preferred product to mark it as the recommendation, and Alt in line with a second product to mark it as the alternative

  5. Click Next

💡Note: Retrieving quotes can take a few seconds.
